PM meets foreign leaders at Seoul Summit
PM Nguyen Tan Dung met with international politicians during Seoul Summit
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung held bilateral meetings with
international politicians on the threshold of the second Seoul Nuclear
Security Summit on March 25 and 26.
In a meeting with New Zealand counterpart John Key, Prime Minister Dung proposed the early signing of an agreement on double taxation avoidance and a cooperative accord on education and training for a new phase. He suggested the effective implementation of the newly inked agreement on working holidays.
PM Dung also proposed organising the fourth session of the Joint Committee for Economic and Trade Cooperation within this year.
For his part, PM John Key said he hopes the two countries would increase cooperation in international and regional forums as well as visits of defence delegations and forge cooperation in logistics and the defence industry.
He also urged speeding up the implementation of the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement, trade and investment promotion, at the same time creating conditions for the two countries’ businesses to seek opportunities for education and labour cooperation, among other fields.
The two PMs agreed to beef up cooperation in fields of the two countries’ strengths and at international forums, including the UN, ASEAN, East Asia Summit, Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.
In another meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg of the UK , PM Dung praised the UK ’s role in promoting nuclear security and safety and its initiatives to this Summit .
Vietnam is completing mechanisms and wants to cooperate with the UK and other countries to increase Vietnam ’s capacity in ensuring nuclear security and safety in nuclear use for peaceful purposes, said the Vietnamese PM.
Dung also suggested that both countries should increase dialogues and cooperation, exchange information on issues of mutual concern and promote bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and education.
He said he hopes the UK will continue to support Vietnam in developing the international standard Vietnam-UK University and facilitate Vietnamese students study in the UK .
The UK Deputy Prime Minister spoke of the need for the two countries to work together to boost two-way trade value to 4 billion USD by 2013.
PM Dung also met with his Pakistani counterpart Raza Gillani. The two PMs expressed their delight at increasing two-way trade that hit 325 million USD last year.
The two PMs spoke highly of discussions between the two ministries and branches for signing a number of agreements on investment encouragement and protection and fighting crime.
PM Dung said the two countries should enhance ventures in investment, cultural, education and training exchange.
PM Raza Gillani proposed both sides increase visits and meetings between the two countries’ ministries, branches, localities and businesses and actively implement agreements reached at the second Vietnam-Pakistan Joint Commission in 2010 and the first session of the Vietnam-Pakistan Trade Sub-Committee in 2011 in Hanoi.-VNA
