PM meets with RoK, Malaysian leaders

During their meeting, Dung and Lee expressed pleasure at the recentresults of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, especiallyin trade, investment and labour.

The two sideshave coordinated in organising a wide range of activities celebratingthe Vietnam-RoK Friendship Year and the 20 th anniversary of theirdiplomatic ties, helping strengthen mutual understanding, friendship andcooperation between the two peoples as well as laying firm foundationsfor improving bilateral relations.

The PM affirmedthat the Vietnamese Government is willing to join hands with the RoK tofurther elevate the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He suggested the RoK Government continues to create favourableconditions for Vietnamese goods, particularly agricultural products, toenter the RoK market, steadily balancing two-way trade.

The two sides should work harder towards the prompt signing of amemorandum of understanding on labour cooperation, he added.

Lee affirmed that RoK considers Vietnam as its most importantstrategic partner in the region, and will coordinate with the SoutheastAsian country in speeding up the satisfactory settlement of issues ofconcern.

In another meeting, Dung and his Malaysiancounterpart Najib Razak said they are pleased with the development ofthe friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countriesand agreed to bring the relationship to a strategic partnership.

The PMs agreed that both sides should organise the fifth session ofthe Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and TechnologicalCooperation as well as assign their relevant agencies to sign amemorandum of understanding on cooperation in trans-national crimeprevention and an agreement on establishing a joint sea patrol systemand a liaison channel between the two navies.

Thetwo sides agreed to create conditions for their businesses to strengtheninvestment and cooperation in areas of mutual strength.

They promised close coordination in the negotiations for theTrans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement in which both are taking part.

To further strengthen Vietnam-Belgium relations, especially parliamentary cooperation, both sides agreed to enhance delegation exchanges at all levels, particularly between parliamentary committees and friendship groups. They also pledged to share legislative and supervisory experience, coordinate positions in international organisations, support each other’s candidacies for UN bodies, and effectively implement the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).
