Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse and aVietnamese high-ranking delegation left Hanoi on May 20 morning for officialvisits to Russia, Norway and Sweden.
The visits are made at the invitation of Russian Prime Minister DmitriMedvedev, Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg, and Swedish Prime MinisterStefan Löfven.
PM Phuc’s visit to Russia from May 20-23 takes place in the context that bothnations will organise the Vietnam Year in Russia and the Russia Year in Vietnamin 2019 and 2020 to mark the 25th anniversary of the signing of thetreaty on basic principles for the bilateral relations (1994-2019) and the 70th anniversary of the diplomatic relations (1950-2020).
It also demonstrates that Vietnam treasures the relations of traditionalfriendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia, as well as aimsto strengthen the all-round cooperation, especially in economy, trade andinvestment.
Meanwhile, his visit to Norway from May 24-26 will affirm the strong relationsbetween the two nations, and help deepen the relations of traditionalfriendship and develop the bilateral cooperation into a more practical andeffective manner.
This is the first visit by a Vietnamese PM to the northern European countrysince 1999. Both countries are celebrating their 50th anniversary ofdiplomatic relations (1971-2021).
After Norway, PM Phuc will visit Sweden from May 26-28, asserting that Vietnamconsistently attaches much importance to consolidating the friendship andtraditional cooperation between the two countries in the past five decades.Notably, this is the first visit at the PM-level to Sweden after 20 years.-VNA
