As many as 100 scholarships have been presented to outstanding students from poor families in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on August 29 as a great encouragement for them in the new school year.
The scholarships, worth 1 million VND each, were granted by Chevron Vietnam Company, PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation, Japan’s Mitsui Oil Exploration Company and Thailand’s PPT Oil and Gas Group on August 29 as part of a programme entitled “Going to school with students” launched by the National Sponsor Fund for Children.
Chevron Vietnam Chairman Barry Andrews affirmed the donors are proud to contribute to the cause of education in Vietnam and pledge to continue support for localities in providing poor children with opportunities to go to school.-VNA
