PM attends investment promotion conference in Hau Giang

Hau Giang (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 16 attended an investment promotion conference in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang.

He hailed efforts by localauthorities and people in the past nearly 20 years of the province’s establishmentto overcome the most difficult periods and have what it has today.

Hau Giang converges many favourable factors and has greatpotential and advantages for socio-economic development, especially in agriculture,logistics, energy and tourism, stressed Chinh.

He expressed his hope that the province can take advantageof policies dedicated to the Mekong Delta region, and turn potential intoresources for socio-economic development, so as to better locals' lives.

The Government leader also suggested several areas wherebusinesses should invest in Hau Giang such as socio-economic infrastructuredevelopment, especially investment in traffic infrastructure and urbandevelopment; industry, particularly energy, processing, manufacturing, foodindustry; high-tech and organic agriculture; tourism; logistics; and informationtechnology.

He asked Hau Giang to coordinate closely with ministries,sectors and other localities to anticipate investment flows to create a breakthroughand new motivation for rapid recovery and sustainable socio-economicdevelopment, and make preparations to meet higher requirements of businessesand investors.

The PM also requested investors to implement their commitments and cooperation agreements, and uphold their responsibility inenvironmental protection and in creating a safe, friendly and harmonious workingenvironment for labourers.

The Vietnamese Government commits to creating a better andmore favourable business and investment environment, he affirmed.

At the conference, PM Chinh witnessed the hand-over ofinvestment certificates to 12 projects in Hau Giang province, with a totalcapital of 19 trillion VND (810 million USD); and witnessed the signing of memorandaof inderstanding (MoU) on investment cooperation and investment intention with10 investors, with a total capital of more than 204 trillion VND. On thisoccasion, State-owned enterprises also presented 28 billion VND to finance theconstruction of schools and give gifts to people who rendered service to thenation in Hau Giang province./.

Banks selling mortgaged assets to recover bad debts

The Viet Dragon Securities Company (VDSC) said that bad debts might continue to increase slightly this year, after a circular allowing banks to reschedule debt repayment periods and maintain the debt group for certain sectors expired at the end of 2024.

Banks' credit up 11.3% in HCM City in 2024

Total outstanding loans of credit institutions in Ho Chi Minh City as of the end of last year were worth over 3.9 quadrillion VND (153.3 billion USD), a 11.3% increase for the year, according to the central bank.
