VN, Canada further all-round cooperation

Both agreed to further links in economics, trade, investment, science - technology and education-training.
Vietnam and Canada have agreed to further links in economics,trade, investment, science-technology and education-training, as well asregional and international issues, in a more effective manner.

The agreement was reached during Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son’s visit to Canada from February 28 – March 1.

While meeting with Canadian leaders, including his counterparts MorrisRosenberg and Peter Boehm, Deputy Minister of Agriculture ClaudeCarriere, Chairman of the Canada – Vietnam Friendship ParliamentaryGroup and leaders of the Canadian International Development Agency, Sonstressed that Vietnam values the development of a comprehensive,stable and long-term partnership with Canada .

He said he hopes the two countries will work closely together tocelebrate their 40 th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties,especially the exchange of high-level delegations and hosting ofcultural, art and economic activities to strengthen mutual understandingand promote diverse cooperation between the two countries, legislaturesand peoples.

Son expressed Vietnam ’s support toCanada for bolstering ties with ASEAN member nations and theAsia-Pacific region, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation anddevelopment in the region.

The diplomat suggestedthe Canadian Government and Parliament create all possible favourableconditions for the overseas Vietnamese community to integrate into thehost society while actively contributing to friendship and cooperationbetween the two countries.

The Canadian sidepledged to promote the exchange of high-level delegations with Vietnam,deepen bilateral political, economic and cultural links, maintaindialogue to strengthen mutual understanding, and work together onregional and international issues of mutual concern.-VNA
