Robocon Vietnam begins final round

The final round of the 2015 Robocon Vietnam contest kicked off in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on May 12, drawing 32 teams from universities and junior colleges nationwide to compete.

Themed “Robominton: Badminton Robo-Game”, the event is highly challenging in both technology and competition.

Pham Phi Thuong, Deputy Head of Robocon 2015’s organising board, saidthis year’s contest expects a number of breakthroughs in scientificapplication.

Reigning champion Lac Hong University has three teams entering the final round, widely considered strong contenders.

The teams from the Hanoi Junior College of Electronics andRefrigeration, the Hanoi Electromechanical and Food TechnologyVocational Training College, and the Hanoi Electromechanical VocationalTraining College have also proved to be worthy adversaries, he noted,adding that this is the first time they have competed at a Roboconcontest.

The 2015 Robocon Vietnam is the 14 th ofits kind held in the country. The winner will receive 50 million VND(2,380 USD) in cash and join the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest (ABURobocon) slated for August 21-25 in Indonesia.-VNA
