Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIT) and the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on August 8 launched a postage stamp themed “National Flower” to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
Addressing the launching ceremony, MoIT Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong said that the stamp features lotus, Vietnam’s national flower, with the logo “ASEAN Post” on the top. The flower shows the culture, characteristics and spirit of Vietnamese people, and symbolises the beauty of Vietnam, he said.
The commemorative stamp is designed by painter To Minh Trang from the VNPT.
As part of efforts to enhance public awareness of culture, history and life-style of the ASEAN community, the ASEAN member countries agreed to issue a common stamp every two years from 2017.
The stamp features a topic chosen by all member countries, with the logo “ASEAN Post” and the typical image of the issuance country.
