HCM City (VNA) - A ceremony was held by the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on May 15 to markthe 130th birthday of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).

In his remarks,Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan recalled PresidentHo Chi Minh’s life and revolutionary cause, which, he said, has given youngergenerations the strength and mettle to overcome all difficulties andchallenges.

His thoughts,bright moral example, and lifestyle will forever be an invaluable asset of theVietnamese Party, army, and people, and a light leading the nation to newvictories and a bright future, Nhan stressed.

Named after the latePresident, HCM City has made great efforts to become a major centre of economics,culture, education and training, and science and technology, an engine of thenational economy, and a gateway for international integration, he went on.

On this occasion thecity honoured 149 collectives and 233 individuals for outstandingperformance in studying and following the President’s thoughts, morality, andlifestyle in the 2019-2020 period.

Nhan called formore such role models to build Vietnam into a modern industrialised countrywith a high-income status./.
