HCM City (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phucon June 20 asked journalists nationwide, particularly those in Ho Chi MinhCity, to work harder to cover major developments in the political,socio-economic life in an honest and timely manner.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of pressagencies in HCM City on the occasion of the 97th VietnamRevolutionary Press Day (June 21), the President praised the performance of thejournalists on the frontline of the COVID-19 fight nearly one year ago, as wellas during socio-economic recovery post pandemic in HCM City.

He urged journalists to play a more active role in thecombat against corruption and other negative phenomena, while improving theirmorality and working style.

As head of the steering committee for developing astrategy for building and perfecting a rule-of-law socialist State till 2030with orientations to 2045, Phuc suggested press agencies establish specialwebsites on the project.

Local journalists should take the pioneering role inpromoting the land and people of HCM City, and encouraging local residents to fulfillpolitical and social tasks, contributing to building a civilised and moderncity, he said.

Earlier, President Phuc visited former Editor-in-chiefof Saigon Giai Phong (Liberated Saigon) newspaper Duong Trong Dat, who is alsoformer President of the HCM City Journalists’ Association, on the occasion of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day./.

Hanoi: 95% of administrative procedures to be handled from home

The plan targets that at least 80% of administrative procedures under the city’s authority will be provided as fully online public services, while more than 95% of applications will be received and processed entirely online. By June 30, 2026, about 80% of administrative procedures are expected to be restructured based on integrated data systems, with the figure rising to 95% by the end of the year.
