Hanoi (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quanghas urged the APEC Business Advisory Council in Vietnam (ABAC Vietnam) to joinhands with relevant agencies and organisations to thoroughly prepare for theAPEC Economic Leaders’ Week slated for November in the central city of Da Nang.

At a working session with ABAC Vietnam leaders in Hanoi on September 27, thePresident called for joint efforts to attract the participation of leaders ofthe Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) and representatives ofinternational organisations, leading economic groups, businesses and localitiesnationwide in the CEO Summit 2017 and the APEC Business Summit during the week.

Hosting APEC Year 2017 is the focus of Vietnam’s external activities, he said,stressing the need to intensify communication work in order to raise publicawareness of the event, contributing to promoting the land and people ofVietnam to international friends.

The President applauded the close coordination between ABAC Vietnam, theVietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), the APEC National Secretariat2017 and relevant ministries, agencies and localities over the past time.

He agreed with recommendations of the APEC business community, especially thoseregarding the liberalisation and facilitation of trade, investment andservices, connectivity, inclusive, sustainable and innovative growth, and thedevelopment of micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises as well as those runby women.

The leader also lauded recommendations to improve thequality of human resources, promote the digital economy and make the best useof opportunities generated by the fourth industrial revolution.

On behalf of leaders of other APEC economies, President Tran Dai Quang receivedABAC’s report and 20 recommendations to be submitted to the APEC leaders. - VNA
