 Dhaka (VNA) – President Tran Dai Quang engaged in bilateral meetings with Bangladeshileaders in the capital city of Dhaka on March 5 during his ongoing State visit.

Meeting Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, theVietnamese leader stated that Vietnam always bears in mind valuable supportthat the two countries offered to each other in the past national liberationand development at present.

He wished that the two nations will further reinforce their pragmatic tiesacross many fields to bring practical benefits to the two peoples.

In order to maximize potential and strength of each nation, President Quangsuggested Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury promote the exchange of high-ranking visitsand meetings while joining hands in organising activities marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

He also proposed maintaining and effectively implementing bilateral cooperationmechanisms, exchanging and seeking opportunities to materialise specificmeasures in order to raise bilateral trade and create favourable conditions forthe business communities to share information and experience, support eachother in agriculture and seafood, enhance cooperation in education, trainingand tourism, and soon launch a direct flight route.

The President shared his host’s views on the need to intensify parliamentaryand people-to-people exchange, and welcomed Bangladesh’s establishment of theBangladesh-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Group.

During a reception for Chairman of the Workers’ Party of Bangladesh Rashed KhanMenon, the President believed that the party will devise proper policies tofurther strengthen its role on political arena and develop left-wing andworkers’ movements.

The Communist Party of Vietnam attaches importance to traditional friendshipwith the Workers’ Party of Bangladesh, he said, suggesting that both sidesshould continue the exchange of visits to share information and Party buildingexperience, working closely together in multilateral political forums in theregion and the world.
Menonwished to boost cooperation in sharing theoretical, Party and nationaldevelopment experience with Vietnam.

He vowed to actively support the implementation of high-level agreements reachedby the two nations.

During the receptionfor President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry(FBCCI) Shafiul Islam, President Quang hailed the organization’s role inaccelerating the economic ties between the two countries.

“Vietnam alwaysplaces importance to promoting the traditional friendship and sound cooperationwith Bangladesh,” he stressed, affirming the country’s willingness to shareexperience in fields of its strength.

He expressed his wishes to continue fostering the bilateral relations in aproductive and practical manner to meet the people’s aspirations.

As the economic tiesare yet to match the two countries’ potential, he suggested the two businesscircles making greater efforts and the FBCCI doing as a bridge for businessesof the two countries.

He also asked the FBCCI to continue working with Vietnamese ministries, sectorsand localities to realize the two sides’ business plans.

Shafiul Islam said his organization is interested in economic, trade and investmentcooperation with Vietnam.

The FBCCI has sentmany delegations to Vietnam to research the market and seek business opportunities andwanted big groups from Vietnam, like Viettel, to increase investments intelecommunications, information technology, agriculture, and textile inBangladesh, whose market has 170 million people, he said.-VNA

16th NA reviews amendments to four tax-related laws on April 21

Draft law proposes flexible tax thresholds, extended incentives for EVs

Lawmakers suggest groundbreaking mechanisms to revive Vietnamese culture

The draft resolution seeks to lure more investment into cultural industries, aiming for the sector to contribute 7% to GDP by 2030 and 9% by 2045. It also sets ambitious goals of ranking Vietnam among the top three countries in Southeast Asia and the global top 30 for national soft power.

Pathways to double-digit growth to be tabled at 16th NA’s first session

In the morning sitting on April 20, deputies are expected to hear proposals and verification reports on a range of draft resolutions. The documents cover breakthrough mechanisms and policies for the development of Vietnamese culture; the establishment of Dong Nai as a centrally run city; a pilot framework for public lawyer institution; and special mechanisms to address land law violations committed prior to the 2024 Land Law taking effect, alongside measures to resolve long-delayed and stalled projects.
