Canberra (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse andthe Vietnamese high-level delegation arrived at Fairbairn military airport inCanberra in the afternoon of March 14, beginning an official visit to Australiaat the invitation of Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.

While in Australia, the Vietnamese PM will attend the ASEAN-AustraliaSpecial Summit.

PM Phuc and the Vietnamese delegation were greeted at the airport by AssistantMinister to the Prime Minister - Senator James McGrath ; DeputySecretary at the Department of the PrimeMinister and Cabinet  - Stephanie Foster; andAustralian Ambassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick. On the Vietnamese side therewere Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Ngo Huong Nam and Vietnamese ConsulGeneral in Sydney Trinh Duc Hai.

[Vietnam, Australia to set up strategic partnership in PM’s visit]

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc is scheduled to visit the Australian National Universityand meet with representatives from the Vietnamese community in Australia onMarch 14.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is to chair a welcomeceremony for the Vietnamese PM on March 15 morning.  The two PMs will later hold talks and witnessthe signing of bilateral cooperative agreements.

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc will also meet with leaders of the Australian Senate andthe House of Representatives and pay a courtesy visit to the Governor-General ofAustralia during the visit.-VNA
