Quang Nam (VNA) – Twenty one persons have luckily escaped from two serious landslides in Tra Leng and Tra Van communes, Nam Tra My district, the central province of Quang Nam, said Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu on October 29.
They are among 53 reported unaccounted-for.
As of October 29 afternoon, 12 injured and six bodies were found, all from Tra Leng commune.
Fourteen people in Tra Leng commune are still missing.
At least 16 people have died and 37 are missing after landslides hit two mountainous communes in Nam Tra My district, Quang Nam province in central Vietnam, on October 28. Of the victims, 45 are from Tra Leng commune, and the remainders from Tra Van commune, according to the provincial military command. At 9:30 am on Oct. 29, the bodies of 16 victims were found.
Three more people were killed and eight are still missing in a landslide occurring in Phuoc Loc commune, Phuoc Son district, central Quang Nam province, on October 28.
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung on October 29 ordered competent forces to race against time and mobilise vehicles to clear out National Highway 40 so as to access the sites of the landslides that buried 53 people in two mountainous communes in central Quang Nam province.
