Police in the central province of Quang Nam have announced clemency for 10 prisoners thanks to their redemption progress.
The move comes on the occasion of the upcoming anniversary of Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day.
Of the pardoned prisoners, three are freed ahead of their release dates while the others received 2-5 month sentence reductions. Most have served more than two-thirds of their terms.
The clemency not only reflects the government’s leniency policy, but also encourages prisoners to reform so that they can return to society sooner.-VNA
