Quang Ninh airport project under consideration

The Prime Minister has assigned the Ministry of Transport to collaborate with other ministries and agencies to appraise the proposed Quang Ninh airport project and submit to him a report within June.

The report should clarify the necessity of the project based onexisting development plans for airports and other related schemes, itsefficiency, sources and forms of investment, and its expected impacts onsocio-economic development need and security-defence.

According to a plan of the northern province of Quang Ninh, the airportwill be built on 248.6 hectares in Van Dong island district’s EconomicZone in the form of BOT (build-operate-transfer) with an estimatedinvestment of 7.49 trillion VND (531.6 million USD), including costs forsite clearance.-VNA.
