Police in the northern border province of Quang Ninh busted a drug andweapon trafficking ring involving 20 cakes of heroin (roughly 7kg),eight guns and 188 bullets, nearly 2 billion VND (94,000 USD), and50,000 RMB (8,177 USD).
On October 29, policeofficers stopped and inspected a van in Viet Hung ward, Ha Long city.Inside the van, driven by Nguyen Van Hai, born in 1976, of Cam Phu ward,Cam Pha district, they discovered the cakes of heroin, a gun, ninebullets and 15 million VND.
Police officers raidedHai’s place of residence and found additional seven guns, a packet ofmethamphetamine, a car and 250 million VND.
Theyalso detected two more packets of methamphetamine, 1.4 billion VND and50,000 RMB at the home of Hai’s accomplice, Hoang Vinh Phuc, born in1965 and residing in Hai Yen ward, Mong Cai city.
Initial investigations show this was a professional and international drug and weapon smuggling ring.
Authorities are investigating the case further.-VNA
