Quang Ninh (VNA) - The Department of Tourism together with the Tourism Association of the northeastern province of Quang Ninh launched the 2020 tourism promotion campaign on May 13, drawing 300 representatives of companies in operating the sector.

At the event, local firms put forward measures to bolster the domestic tourism market and compete with other tourist destinations of the country.

Of note, they agreed to reduce costs of services by 30-50 percent and present new products to lure tourists to the province.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Huy Hau underlined that businesses are required to stay united and together overcome difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, they need to maintain quality of services to promote the images of local tourism, he added.

On the occasion, an alliance in charge of promoting Quang Ninh tourism was set up. It is tasked with devising and carrying out stimulus programmes to attract visitors, offsetting the impact of COVID-19 and fostering tourism growth in the post-pandemic period.

The organisation is expected to play an important role in connecting the provincial tourism sector with domestic and foreign holidaymakers.

Quang Ninh has worked to improve transport to the province and exempt taxes for tourism firms.

The provincial People’s Council will consider approving tourism stimulus incentives on May 14, as ticket discounts are to be offered at tourist spots in upcoming holidays./.
