Quang Ninh spends nearly 1 trillion VND to upgrade schools, support students

The northern province of Quang Ninh has spent more than 508 billion VND (21.56 million USD) on repairing and upgrading the infrastructure system serving teaching and learning activities, along with 458 billion VND of tuition support to local students.

Quang Ninh (VNA) – The northern province ofQuang Ninh has spent more than 508 billion VND (21.56 million USD) on repairingand upgrading the infrastructure system serving teaching and learningactivities, along with 458 billion VND of tuition supportto local students.

This is the second consecutive year that the province has providedtuition support to local students, benefiting nearly 225,400 at alllevels.

In order to ensure safety for students ahead of the new academicyear, Quang Ninh sped up COVID-19 vaccination for local residents, especiallychildren.

To date, 97.06% of the children from five to under 12 years oldhave received at least one vaccine shots, while 71.16% have receivedtwo.

In the 2022-2023 school year, Quang Ninh has 340,000students studying in 645 schools from pre-school to high-school levels. Over88% of  the local schools have met the national standards./.

Remains of Vietnamese fallen soldiers, experts repatriated from Laos

The remains of 12 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, who laid down their lives in different periods in Laos’ Savannakhet province, were repatriated following a handover ceremony on May 21. They will be re-buried at the Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery in Vietnam's central province of Quang Tri on May 22.

Nghe An reburies martyrs' remains repatriated from Laos

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phung Thanh Vinh said that carrying a noble international duty, many Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts heroically joined Lao people in their struggle for national liberation and independence. Many of them sacrificed their lives in the country, including more than 12,000 soldiers laying down in the three provinces of Xaysomboun, Vientiane, and Xiangkhouang.
