The UK-based World Records University has granted honorary doctorate degrees to six Vietnamese record holders in a ceremony held in Ho Chi Minh City.
They include historian Nguyen Khac Thuan for translation and editing of old Chinese language documents and work on the history of Vietnamese culture, and martial arts researcher Pham Dinh Phong for his book on the history of Vietnamese martial arts.
According to the university's principal Thomas Bains, Buddhism researcher Vo Van Tuong has captured the most photos of pagodas in Vietnam and the rest of the world, while composer Le Van Tuan created a new kind of music called CROR – a combination of classic, romantic, opera and rock genres.
Director Nguyen Van Luong was honoured for producing the most films on the culture and landscape of Vietnam's seas and islands.
Coming last on the list was Labour Hero Hoang Duc Thao, who is the first Vietnamese to receive the highest number of patents from domestic and international organisations.
At the September 21 awards ceremony, the World Records University has also offered degrees to five Indians, namely Deepak Tewari, Jayyesh Hinglajiya, Narinder Singh, Sharad Gandhi, and Soctor Parth Sarthi Sharma.-VNA
