Record number of Vietnamese students in US

The number of Vietnamese students in the US this year increased by 12.9 percent compared to last year, according to data from the Institute of International Education.

HCM City (VNA) - The number of Vietnamese students in the US this year increased by 12.9 percent compared to last year, according to data from the Institute of International Education.

Vietnam now leads all Southeast Asian countries with 18,722 students in the US. The country ranks ninth among countries with student nationals studying in the US.

The majority of them study at the undergraduate college and university level. In the 2014-2015 academic year, the breakdown was 66.5 percent for undergraduates; 15.7 percent for graduate students; 9.4 percent for others; and 8.4 percent for students taking part in optional practical training.-VNA
