The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,670 VND/USD on May 23, down 14 VND from the previous day.

Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily referenceexchange rate at 23,670 VND/USD on May 23, down 14 VND from the previous day.

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable forcommercial banks during the day is 24,853 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,486VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at commercial banks stayed stable.

At 9:00 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 23,245 VND/USD and theselling rate at 23,615 VND/USD, both unchanged from the end of May 22.

BIDV also kept both rates unchanged from the end of the previous day, listingthe buying rate at 23,295 VND/USD and the selling rate 23,595 VND/USD./.

According to statistics from the Department of Customs, in the first six months of 2026, Vietnam imported 102.8 million USD worth of fruit, vegetables and flowers from Australia, up 55.7% from the same period last year. Australia's share of total imports rose from 5.5% to 6.51%, highlighting the growing position of the market as a supplier. Imports from New Zealand reached 78.04 million USD, up 20.4% year-on-year.

Lawmakers discuss measures to ensure banking system safety, support digital economy

The draft law sets out provisions to control conflicts of interest when commercial banks act as agents managing collateral for corporate bonds.
