Reference exchange rate revised up at week’s beginning

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,261 VND/USD on August 19, up 7 VND from the last working day of the previous week (August 16).

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,261 VND/USD on August 19, up 7 VND from the last working day of the previous week (August 16).

With the current trading band of +/- 5%, the ceiling rate applicable for commercial banks during the day is 25,474 VND/USD and the floor rate 23,048 VND/USD.

At major commercial banks, the opening hour rates fluctuated slightly.

At 8:27am, Vietcombank listed the rates at 24,890 VND/USD (buying) and 25,230 VND/USD (selling), unchanged from August 16.

Meanwhile, BIDV raised both rates by 8 VND, listing the buying rate at 24,880 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,220 VND/USD./.
