Reference exchange rate starts week with a hike

Hanoi (VNA) – The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 22,558 VND/USD on May 7, up 6 VND from the last working day of last week (May 4).

With the current trading band of  +/-3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,251 VND/USD and the floor rate 21,807 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at major commercial banks stayed unchanged from May 4.

The greenback is being bought at 22,735 VND/USD and sold at 22,805 VND/USD at Vietcombank, BIDV and Vietinbank.

Last week, the reference exchange rate was adjusted up for two consecutive days following the four-day holiday from April 28 to May 1. It was revised down on the last day of the week.

The rates listed at commercial banks saw only slight fluctuations during the week. -VNA
