Twenty Vietnamese exporters in the fields of agriculture, machinery, plastics, handicrafts, renewable energy, and banking-finance and human resources services are on a market study tour of Romania and Bulgaria from October 3-9.
The Vietnam – Romania Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation convened its 16th session in Bucharest, Romania on October 4 under the chair of Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Tuan Anh and Romanian Minister for Business Environment, Commerce and Entrepreneurship Stefani Radu Oprea.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called for a breakthrough in Vietnam – Romania economic, trade and investment ties in his address to the Vietnam – Romania business forum in the capital city of Bucharest on April 15.
Romania is a market of great potential to Vietnam’s exports like tropical fruits (fresh and canned), seafood (frozen and canned), coffee, pepper, cashew nut and pork, although the European country has a relatively developed agriculture, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Economic, trade, and investment ties between Vietnam and Romania remain modest and have yet to match their full potential, as heard at a seminar introducing the Romanian market in Hanoi on October 22.
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) on August 15 published an article on its website saying inaccurate information about Vietnamese tra fish on several Romanian websites could affect Vietnam’s tra fish exports to this market.
