The Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh recently launched the construction of a Khmer cultural and tourism village at a total cost of 25.8 billion VND (1.12 million USD).

The People’s Committee of the southern province of Tra Vinh on October 25 organised a cultural exchange programme to tighten the friendship between Vietnam and Japan.

The relic complex of Bo Luy-Kompong Thmo pagoda, also known as Lo Gach (Brick-kiln) pagoda, in Chau Thanh district of the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh, has been recognised as a national archaeological site.

Architectural relics unearthed at Lo Gach pagoda in Tra Vinh province carry features from the southwest region’s Oc Eo Culture, experts said following a recent excavation at the site.

The first Vietnam – Japan cultural exchange programme 2016 took place at Tra Vinh University on November 17 by the Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association of the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.

Ok Om Bok Festival, also called the Festival of Worshipping the Moon, took place in the Ao Ba Om (Ba Om Pond) relic site in the southern province of Tra Vinh.

Several events were held to celebrate the Khmer ethnic people’s Ok Om Bok (moon worshipping) festival in southern Soc Trang province.
