Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on May 5 attended a rehearsal for a ceremony celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, which will take place on May 7 in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien.
After the rehearsal, the organising board gathered to discuss last minute changes required ahead of the main celebration, which will include an incense-offering ceremony and a military parade.
The same day, Deputy PM Dam also attended an inaugural ceremony for a national press centre to serve the 60th celebration of the victory, which put an end to the French colonial rule in Vietnam.
The centre is equipped with 50 internet-connected computers in order to help both domestic and international reporters send breaking news about the celebration as soon as possible.
The centre will also provide reliable information and photographs on the Dien Bien Phu victory and the ceremony.-VNA
