Hanoi (VNA) – Close to 270 Vietnamese citizens were safely bought homefrom Australia and New Zealand on a repatriation Bamboo Airways flight onSeptember 23 as a joint effort of competent authorities from the threecountries.

The passengersincluded children under 18, pregnant women, the elderly, workers whose labourcontracts had expired, students with no residences due to dormitory shutdownand other with especiallydifficult circumstances.

Given thattravel restrictions continue to be in place in Australia and New Zealand inresponse to COVID-19, Vietnamese representative agencies in the two countries have worked with localauthorities to facilitate travel of Vietnamese expats to pickup points atairports in Sydney and Melbourne (Australia).

Vietnamesediplomats were also sent there to assist the citizens with pre-departure proceduresuntil they boarded the flight.

Bamboo Airwaysrigorously undertook in-flightsecurity and disease preventive measures to prevent the spread of the novelcoronavirus.

Upon landingat Can Tho International Airport in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, all the flight crew and passengers were givenheath checkups and put into compulsory quarantine in accordance withregulations./.
