A grand requiem will be organised at the Vietnam-Laos Martyrs’ Cemetery in Anh Son district, in the central province of Nghe An, from Oct. 22-24 for fallen Vietnamese combatants.

Hosted by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Central Committee, the state-level requiem aims to satisfy the aspirations of the Vietnamese and Lao people as well as overseas Vietnamese to pray for the peace of the souls of Vietnamese volunteers who laid down their lives on the battlefields of Laos.

Large numbers of representatives from concerned ministries, agencies, war
veterans, families of fallen combatants and local residents of both Vietnam and Laos will participate in the event.

The requiem forms part of a programme to celebrate 60 years since the day Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts began giving a helping hand to their Lao brothers and sisters.

The activity is being undertaken with support from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Ministry of National Defence’s General Department of Politics, Vietnam Television and the Nghe An People’s Committee./.
