Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked ministries and sectors to amend the legal framework to facilitate further development of the staff and facilities for all forms of media in the country.

PM Dung made the request while meeting with media workers on Feb. 23 on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.

He extolled the media’s timely reporting on important international and domestic events in 2009 and its active participation in the nation’s fight against corruption, bureaucracy, wastefulness and other negative social phenomena, while strictly abiding by press regulations and following the State and Party’s guidelines.

The PM also highlighted the press circle’s role in national construction and development, emphasising the social responsibility and duties of each media worker in implementing the tasks set out by the Party and the State.

The press must disseminate information on the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in 2010 and the 2006-2010 plan, the organisation of the Party congresses at all levels and the national fight against social evils, negative phenomena and the activities of hostile forces.

The same day, PM Dung paid Tet visits to the staff of Nhan Dan (The People) daily and the Government Web Portal./.
