A 19-doctor delegation from the Republic of Korea (RoK) and Japan joined the “Week of free surgery for children with cleft lip and palate”, which opened in Hanoi on Oct. 3.
The event, which was co-organised by the National Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology and the RoK’s Cleft Lip and Palate Association, aimed to offer free surgery to children with cleft lip and palate.
More than 40 children are scheduled to be examined for surgery selection during the week prior to surgery.
Speaking at the opening, Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen expressed gratitude to the doctors for their assistance in offering free surgery for Vietnam ’s poor children with cleft lips and palate.
Xuyen highlighted the activity’s significance in bringing smiles to these children and their families.
In the framework of the event, the RoK and Japanese doctors will also provide Vietnamese odontologists with training courses to improve the doctors’ professional skills, contributing to promoting the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam’s health sector with the RoK and Japan./.
