The Red Cross of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on Feb. 14 proposed talks with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the reunion of families separated during the 1950-1953 Korean War.
Yu Jung-keun, head of the RoK Red Cross, suggested holding talks on Feb. 20 in the DPRK border town of Kaesong or the RoK border city of Munsan .
The proposal comes after the RoK Ministry of Unification said it will make more effort to promote reunions of separated families.
More than 78,000 people, most of them over 70 years of age, are awaiting a chance for a rendezvous./.
