The Republic of Korea’s Hanwha Life Insurance will fund the construction of 40 houses, each worth some 1,600 USD, for the needy in six southern Vietnamese provinces.
A deal to this effect was signed between the Korea Cultural Centre of the Asia Cultural Exchange Foundation (ACEF) and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in Ho Chi Minh City on April 24.
Through ACEF, Hanwha’s project will benefit the provinces of Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Long An, Vinh Long, Dak Lak and Binh Dinh.
Le Van Hong, Chairman of VUFO’s Kien Giang provincial chapter, said the project will make it easier for locals to live above the poverty line and enjoy more stable lives.
Last year, ACEF partnered with RoK and Vietnamese organisations to build and hand over 93 houses to the poor in the south, including the Vietnam Friendship Village in Vinh Long.-VNA
