Run raises 1 bln VND for children with heart diseases

A charitable run which took place in Hanoi on Dec. 4 has raised 1 billion VND for children with cancer and heart diseases.
A charitable run which took place in Hanoi on Dec. 4 has raised 1billion VND for children with cancer and heart diseases.

The run for children 2011 was jointly organised by the Hanoi Chapterof the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Canadian Embassy,and the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association. It drew the participationof more than 12,000 people of all walks of life and foreigners inHanoi .

Vice President of the Hanoi Chapter of the VietnamUnion of Friendship Organisations Vu Thi Hai said:“I’m moved seeingmany people taking part in this significant activity as it helps raisefund for children struggling against heart and fatal diseases. As anorganiser, I do hope that this activity will be supported by more andmore people.”

All donated money will be used to fundresearch programmes on cancer and treatments for poor children livingwith cancer and heart diseases at the National Hospital of Pediatrics,Hanoi Heart Hospital and the programme of Vietnam Heart BeatFund.

Held for the first time in 2000, the event has so far raised more than 4 billion VND./.

FLC appeal hearing postponed, giving more time for compensation

After discussions and listening to opinions from lawyers, defendants, and victims present at the trial, the judicial panel stated that postponing the appeal hearing for Trinh Van Quyet, ex-chairman of FLC Group, is necessary to ensure the rights of the victims. The postponement aims to give the defendants and their families more time to pay compensation for victims and those with related rights and obligations.
