Russian humanitarian aid arrives in Vietnam

A flight of the Russian Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief delivered 35 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Vietnam on September 20 to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) – A flight of the Russian Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief delivered 35 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Vietnam on September 20 to support recovery efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi.

A handover ceremony was held in the presence of senior officials from both countries at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi.

Among the attendees were Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Director of Vietnam’s Disaster and Dyke Management Authority, and I.S. Nesterov, Chargé d'Affaires of Russia in Vietnam.

Nesterov expressed condolences on behalf of the Russian Government and people, acknowledging the severe loss of life and destruction caused by the typhoon.

He emphasised the longstanding tradition of mutual support between Russia and Vietnam, stating: "Our two nations have a history of standing by each other during difficult times. This aid, delivered by the Russian Ministry of Civil Defence, Emergencies and Disaster Relief, reflects the deep bond of friendship between our peoples over the past 75 years."

Nesterov added that he hopes the aid will help victims return to normal life as quickly as possible.

Vietnamese officials expressed their gratitude for Russia's timely support, noting the importance of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries./.

Education-training sector preparing for strategic turning point: Minister

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, authorities found 1,729 cases of vessels losing VMS connection for six hours or more, issuing fines in 196 cases totalling nearly 6.6 billion VND (about 252,000 USD)
