Russian naval ships visit Philippines

Hanoi (VNA) - The Russian Navy's anti-submarine ships Admiral Tributs and Admiral Vinogradov, and mid-size sea tanker Pechenga docked in Manila on June 9 for a six-day friendly visit to the Philippines.

Capt. Lued Lincuna, spokesman for the Philippine Navy, said a Philippine navy vessel escorted the Russian ships at the area of the Corregidor Island as a customary welcome procedure.

According to Nikolai Voskresensky, a spokesman for the Russian Navy, during the visit, which will last until June 14, the task force commander, Capt. First Rank Oleg Korolev, will meet with officers of the Philippine Navy.

Philippines' servicemen are also welcome to visit the ships, he added.-VNA
