Russia’s Independence Day celebrated in HCM City

HCM City (VNA) – The Russian ConsulateGeneral in Ho Chi Minh City on June 8 held a ceremony to mark Russia’sIndependence Day (June 12, 1990 – June 12, 2017).

The ceremony was attended by Vice Chairmanof the HCM City People’s Committee Huynh Cach Mang, representatives fromdiplomatic agencies, international organisations and Russian people living inthe city.

Addressing the event, Mang said that sincethe two countries established comprehensive strategic partnership in 2012, thebilateral cooperation has been thriving. This is a favourable ground to bolsterties between HCM City and Russian localities.

HCM City has formed friendly cooperationwith the Russia’s capital city of Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Vladivostokcities, Moscow and Sverdlovsk provinces, focusing on five areas of economy,environment and water management, education and science, culture and tourism.

The official affirmed that the city hasbeen cooperating with the Russian Embassy and Consulate General to ensure theeffective implementation of joint programmes and projects.

For his part, Popov Alekey Vladimirovich, RussianConsul General to HCM City, noted that recent high-level visits of the twocountries’ leaders show the thriving bilateral relations.

He also expressed his belief that theupcoming visit of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang, scheduled for late June,will enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership.

In 2016, trade between HCM City and Russia hit more than 146 million USD, up 58percent year-on-year.-VNA

Politburo member Nguyen Van Nen, who is also a standing member of the subcommittee responsible for drafting the Congress documents, said one of the most important and breakthrough innovations in document crafting is the early rollout of new policy decisions and strategies before the Congress convenes. These have been tested in practice and refined through lessons drawn from 40 years of Doi Moi (renewal), before being distilled and embedded into the draft documents for consideration and adoption at the landmark gathering.
