The Binh Thuan provincial Association for the Support of Handicapped and Orphans (ASHO) and Samaritan’s Purse International Relief (SPIR) presented 3,000 gifts to students from poor families in the locality on December 6.
The gifts worth 500,000 VND (23.44 USD) each which comprises stationery, toys and clothes, donated by children from the UK, the US and Australia, went to students from primary and secondary schools in Tan Thuan, Thuan Quy, Tan Thanh communes, Ham Thuan Nam district.
Binh Thuan’s ASHO Chairman Man Tan Dung said those gifts, yet small, constitute the love and sharing from overseas children to local poor ones.
US-based Samaritan’s Purse International Relief started its operation in Vietnam in 1996.
The non-governmental organisation provides aid to people living under difficult circumstances through humanitarian programmes, involving the operation for children with harelips and cleft palate, the building of schools, the grant for scholarships, and disaster relief, and others.-VNA
