The Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) on December 2 received the first batch of royal aid from Saudi Arabia to assist victims of recent storms in the central and Central Highlands regions.

The batch is part of the 200 tonnes of goods provided by the Sultan Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz. The remainder of the aid package, which includes 1,200 tents, 1,000 blankets, 5,000 carpets and 3,000 boxes of food, will arrive on December 3.

VRC Chairman Tran Ngoc Tang spoke highly of the support from Sultan Bin Abdullah and his people, saying that is a noble act at a time when Saudi Arabia has also been hit hard by floods.

The VRC will hold a ceremony to receive the aid on December 4 with the participation of high-ranking officials of both countries./.
