As many as 70 scholarships, each worth 500 USD, have been granted to outstanding students majoring in electronics-telecom and information technology from northern universities.
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Huawei Vietnam Technological Co., Ltd under the Huewei Group presented the scholarships in Hanoi on Mar. 11.
Of the total, 57 scholarships were granted to gifted but poor students and the remaining for those with excellent study performance.
According to MIC Deputy Minister Tran Duc Lai, the granting of scholarships for telecom and IT students is part of the cooperation programme between the ministry and the Huawei Group which aims to strengthen cooperation between state agencies and foreign businesses in developing Vietnam ’s hi-tech human resources.
Huawei Group is one of the world’s leading telecommunications solution providers. The group is also cooperating with the military-run telecom company Viettel, the Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT) and the Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC) to deploy the 4G technology on a trial basis./.
