As many as 147 scholarships have been presented to poor, orphaned and disabled students at all levels in southern Ben Tre province to support their 2012-2013 academic year.
The scholarships, totaling 133.5 million VND (about 6.000 USD) were jointly provided by the “Les Amis du Vietnam” (Vietnam’s Friends Association) in France, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) and the Ben Tre provincial Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
The grant of scholarships to these disadvantaged children has been organised twice a year in recent years.
On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee handed over the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit to Vietnamese Canadian Vo Thi Hao, who once lived in Huong My commune, Mo Cay Nam district, for her contributions to charitable activities.-VNA
