Scientists and cultural experts nationwide dealt with the legal basis on Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago at a symposium in the central coastal province Khanh Hoa on June 15.

In 13 presentations delivered to the event, on cultural values of Vietnam ’s seas and islands, they also touched upon the setting up and enforcing of the country’s sovereignty over the Truong Sa archipelago in history, and spiritual life on the Truong Sa island district.

In the symposium, the participants highlighted Khanh Hoa’s strengths in tourism and proposed measures for the locality to address challenges for sustainable development of its tourist industry.

They noted the need to build sea-related museums and assess and classify maritime cultural heritages in Khanh Hoa province as well as in the country as a way to promote cultural values of sea and islands.

Also, there is a need to raise the public awareness and responsibility on sustainable development of maritime and island natural resources, they said./.
