SEA Games 28: More gold medals secured for Vietnam

Wushu artists Hoang Van Cao and Nguyen Van Tai on June 8 brought home two gold medals in the men’s Sanda-60kg and men’s Sanda-65kg categories after beating their rivals from the Philippines and Myanmar at the 28th SEA Games.

Earlier the day, their teammate Tran Xuan Hiep won a gold medal in the Men’s Optional Broadsword event.

Also the day, gymnasts Phan Thi Ha Thanh and Dinh Phuong Thanhgrabbed gold medals in the women’s individual final and men’s individualall-around competition, respectively.

Le Thanh Tung, HoangCuong, Dinh Phuong Thanh, Pham Phuoc Hung and Dang Nam grabbed thefirst gold in men’s gymnastics team final.

Swimmer NguyenThi Anh Vien continued shining at the regional event with a silver and abronze in the women’s 100m freestyle and women’s 50m backstrokecategories.

At the SEA Games, Vien broke two Southeast AsianGames records in less than an hour and struck four gold medals forVietnamese delegation.

By 8pm of June 8, the Vietnamesedelegation Vietnam ranked second in the medal tally with 26 gold, 12silver and 30 bronze medals.-VNA
