(Photo: VNA) Hanoi (VNA) – The winning of the SEA Games 32 championship is considered as a significant boost for Vietnamese women’s football team ahead of their participation in the FIFA Women’s World Cup - a much more draconic arena compared to the regional tournament.
The team performed excellently to defend their top position after a convincing victory 2-0 to Myanmar at the final match of SEA Games 32 in Cambodia on May 15.
The triumph helped the team leave their mark in the history of women’s football at the biggest regional sporting event.
It’s the eighth times the team have secured its championship. The team also set a record as the first team to win the gold medal at four consecutive SEA Games.
The victory is a deserving reward for the countless efforts of coach Mai Duc Chung and his team over the past time.
The SEA Games 32 championship will be an important motivation for the Vietnamese women’s team before they participate in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World – the world biggest arena, which is slated for Australia and New Zealand in July.
The team’s scheduled matches with the US- the defending champions, runner up Netherlands and Portugal will be huge challenges for captain Huynh Nhu and her team in their first World Cup participation.
Challenges are enormous, but Huynh Nhu and her teammates will not be daunted by their world’s strongest opponents.

Chung noted after the games, the team will work for their biggest goal - the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
He revealed that the team will have training sessions in Germany and Poland with the participation of new faces such as Vu Thi Hoa.
Sharing the same thought with coach Mai Duc Chung, captain Huynh Nhu emphasised that the championship at the regional games will be a momentum for the team to play at the World Cup 2023.
The victory will encourage the team in their journey to the world’s biggest arena, the FIFA World Cup, Nhu added.

Group E is considered to be the toughest group in the tournament. The defending champions US are the most decorated team with four titles. Netherlands played in their first World Cup in 2015, but went all the way to the final in their second tournament and only lost to the US.
As schedule, the tournament debutants Vietnam will play against the top-ranked US on July 27, Portugal on July 27 and the runner-up Netherland on August 1.
To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnam team will have a three-week training trip from June 5 -21 in Frankfurt (Germany), and Warsaw (Poland).
During their stay in Germany, the team will have friendlies with Eintracht Frankfurt club on June 10 and Short Mainz on June 15 at Am Sommerdamm stadium.
A highlight of the training trip will be a friendly with the German national women’s football team on June 24 at Stadion am Bieberer Berg stadium.
They will have another friendly with U23 Polish women’s football team on June 19 before returning to Germany on June 6.
After the trip, the team will be back to Vietnam for further training and touch down New Zealand on July 5 for final preparations before joining the World Cup./.
