Hanoi (VNA) – Morodok Techo stadium will be the venue where host Cambodia holds the opening ceremony of the 32nd SEA Games on May 5 and the closing ceremony on May 17.
The stadium will also host the athletics events from May 8-12, and various sports such as swimming, diving, table tennis, badminton, tennis, basketball, kickboxing, kun khmer, and sepak takraw during the tournament.
The men's football matches will take place at Olympic and Prince stadiums while the women's football teams will compete at RSN and Army stadiums. All four stadiums are located in the capital city of Phnom Penh.
Located in the outskirts of Phnom Penh, Morodok Techo stadium was built in August 2017 and completed in August 2021, at a cost of up to 160 million USD. It is built in the shape of a "sailing boat", with two sharp structures that reach 99m in height and are surrounded by a moat in the ancient Angkor style.
During the AFF Cup 2022, the stadium was used to host matches of the Cambodian national team. Prior to that, it was also the venue for the final round of the 2022 Southeast Asian U22 Championship, which saw the U22 Vietnam team crowned champion./.
Cambodia ready for a successful SEA Games
Cambodia’s Minister of Tourism Thong Khon – who also serves as permanent vice-president of the national organising committees for the 32nd SEA Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games (CAMSOC-CAMAPGOC) - has affirmed that the country’s preparations have been making good progress and the committees fully expect the Kingdom will be well-positioned to succeed as hosts.
