Further efforts are being made to search for the remaining 22 sailors of Vietnam ’s sunken cargo vessel Vinalines Queen.
Representatives of the Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) and the Vinalines Shipping were on the Philippine Coast Guard’s plane on Jan. 4-5 to conduct search around Luzon island of the Philippines .
Meanwhile, representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy and Vinalines had a working session with the Philippine Air Force to ask for help.
Lt. Gen. H. Rabena, Commanding General of the Philippine Air Force, pledged to promptly deploy forces in coordination with the Philippine Navy and Coast Guard to join the search.
On Jan. 5, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang and Vinalines General Director Nguyen Canh Viet had a working session with representatives from the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam , proposing that the Japanese Government deploy planes to search for the missing sailors.
In the same vein, the PVI Insurance Company decided to temporarily pay the 22 missing sailors a total amount of 4.4 billion VND (about 210,000 USD).
Vinalines Queen cargo vessel sank on Dec. 25 en route to China from Indonesia , carrying more than 54, 000 tonnes of nickel ore. Only one sailor has been found alive so far after it was in incident./.
