Hanoi (VNA) – Around 100 reporters and editors from press agencies attended a seminar on promoting foreign news services in Hanoi on October 25.

Speaking at the event, Pham Van Linh, deputy head of the Party Central Committee's Commission for Information and Education, hailed the contributions the press agencies for foreign news services to the country’s external affairs.

They have reported Vietnam’s achievements of the 30-year Doi moi (Reform), international integration, and hosting of APEC 2017, as well as promptly disseminated the guidelines and policies of the Party and State among overseas Vietnamese people and the international community.

Through their works, they have helped promote the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam while rejecting wrong information and distorting allegations of opportunist and hostile forces, and taking advantage of the support of the international community for Vietnam, he added.

Dr Tran Cong Truc, former head of the Government Border Committee updated participants on knowledge on national border sovereignty serving foreign news services as well as sensitive issues such as national border, religion, ethnicity, democracy, human rights, among others.-VNA
