Mexico City (VNA) - Strengthening logistics infrastructure and digital technology connectivity, and promoting e-commerce development is the key to enhancing the effectiveness and substance of multi-faceted ties between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Mexico, from economy, trade, culture, education, and to people-to-people exchanges.
This was affirmed by Vietnamese Ambassador-Designate to Mexico Nguyen Van Hai at a seminar organised on November 21 in Mexico City by the ASEAN Committee in Mexico (ACMC) and Anahuac University, which focused on the prospects for ASEAN-Mexico relations.
Indonesian Ambassador to Mexico Cheppy Wartono, who serves as the rotating Chair of the ACMC, highlighted the growing role and influence of ASEAN, saying that the bloc continues to be a model of success in regional integration and cooperation.
He noted that over the past 57 years, cooperation within ASEAN and between the group and external partners, including Mexico, has progressively expanded and contributed to strengthening the ASEAN Community, and promoted the shared mission of safeguarding and promoting peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.
Many scholars and students eagerly asked questions to learn about the characteristics and operational mechanisms of ASEAN, especially its foreign relations and trade policies.
Delegates also discussed measures to promote connectivity between ASEAN and Mexico, how ASEAN members collaborate with external partners to enhance the bloc’s overall connectivity, and ASEAN’s vision for cooperation with other regions, including Latin America./.
