Politburo member Le Hong Anh is on a working visit to Cuba on September 3 to foster the traditional friendship between the Communist Parties of Vietnam and Cuba and the two peoples.
Working with President of the Cuban Parliament Esteban Lazo on September 4, Anh, who is also standing member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Secretariat, briefed his host on Vietnam’s first ever confidence vote on positions elected or approved by the National Assembly.
He said that Vietnam is determined to further tighten solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, legislatures and peoples, especially in economics and trade.
Lazo noted his wish to further strengthen Vietnam-Cuba cooperation via the exchange of delegations, including those from professional agencies and friendly parliamentarian groups.
Informing Anh of Cuba’s economic development steps, Lazo reaffirmed the country’s goal of building a prosperous and sustainable socialist nation.
The same day, Anh made a fact-finding tour of Mayabeque province - which leads other Cuban localities in agricultural production, industry and science - to learn about its socio-economic model.
While holding a working session with its provincial authorities, Anh informed them of Vietnam’s farming achievements over the past time. He said Vietnam stands ready to work with the province in this field.-VNA
