Singapore warns that terrorism threat remains high

Hanoi (VNA) – While there is no indication of an imminent attack, terrorism threat to Singapore remains high, according to the Singapore Terrorism Threat Assessment Report 2024.

The terrorism threat has been increased since the Israel-Palestine conflict re-escalated following the Hamas' October 7 attack on Israel, with an uptick in anti-Singapore rhetoric on social media from regional extremist elements, the report said, noting that the primary threat driver in Singapore continues to be online self-radicalisation.

Singapore's Internal Security Department has dealt with three self-radicalisation cases since last July, including two male teenagers, aged 14 and 16 and a 33-year-old female.

The Singaporean authority has dealt with 52 self-radicalised individuals, including 40 Singaporeans, since 2015./.
